A Blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Graciano, and Cinsault. To say Artie Johnson has spent a career working with the best in the food and wine industry is a laughable understatement. From Nobu in New York to the Versace Mansion in Florida, from Harlan Estates to Mayacamas in California, this guy has seen it all. Now producing his own wine brand using top growers like Phil Coturri, Artie is making a name for himself among wine drinkers who appreciate his passion and attention to quality. This 2018 Vin Roug is a full-bodied red blend and is an homage to the classic wines of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Artie separately vinified each varietal to compile the final blend. The fruit for this red came from Contra Costa County in California and Artie picked this vineyard site earlier than other parts of Northern California to avoid sunburn. In the bottle, the Vin Rouge has the full-bodied texture of the Southern Rhone, the structure of the Northern Rhone, and the delicious fruit of a classic New World wine. Notes of blackberry, cocoa, licorice, and wild strawberry fill the glass with a long finish. With only 215 cases produced this is one of those special wines that we are so honored to offer to our clients.
