A blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The Juillet-Lallement estate is located in the heart of the Montagne de Reims in Verzy, in a very pretty, typically Champagne village is known for its exceptional forest and its twisted beech trees. They farm a little over 4 hectares, spread over two terroirs, Verzy and Sillery, both classified as 100% Grand Cru. The average age of their parcels is 40 years, and the earliest record of their oldest parcel was planted in 1949 by one of their ancestors, Arthur Lallement. Juillet-Lallement grows 45% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir and 5% Pinot Meunier on 9 parcels, planted on a chalky subsoil allowing the three varietals to flourish. Their overall philosophy is to respect the cycles of nature and the elements that surround it, through a reasoned culture, respectful of the environment and of man. Their Selection Club 2014 robe is golden for this champagne, adorned by fine and delicate bubbles. The nose is strong, dominated by hints of small blackberries, and unravels its complexity bit by bit with black chocolate and wet stone, topped by a touch of lightly candied white fruits. The mouth is greedy and surprised by its structure and length of morello cherry and candied orange aromas. This is ideal champagne to be paired with grilled meat or even a chocolate dessert.
