In Oregon, he learned how to make wine by working at Antica Terra and Hiyu Wine Farm, two of the best producers in the country. Il Nido, Italian for "The Nest", is a gorgeous Sauvignon Blanc from a vineyard that is perched in Underwood, Washington overlooking the gorge. It is full of honey, tropical fruits, and is high in acidity. Markel and his contemporaries are putting the Columbia Gorge AVA on the map, and his wines are certainly ones to watch out for!
