Abreu Vineyards Rothwell Hyde 2017

Majority Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Abreu Vineyards is named after the founder, David Abreu. David Abreu earned his reputation as one of the top vineyard managers in Napa. David Abreu followed his father and grandfather in the profession of vineyard management and has worked with countless growers in Napa including Harlan, Colgin, Bryant, Screaming Eagle, and many more. In fact, it's harder to find a top vineyard in Napa that David isn't involved with. Today the Abreu Estate produces five wines, Madrona Ranch, Thorevilos, Capella, Howell Mountain, and Rothwell Hyde, with all of them being Cabernet Sauvignon-based. All the grapes are harvested in the early morning, after fermentation they are aged in 100% new French oak barrels for two years where it is then bottled and held for another two years before release. While the rest are single-vineyard wines, Rothwell Hyde combines fruit from all four vineyards into one superb wine. The Rothwell Hyde captures all of the Abreu signatures in a more approachable style that also comes with a relatively accessible price tag by Napa Valley standards.
