43% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay, 22% Pinot Meunier. Since 1843, six generations of the Krug family have been creating the finest and rarest Champagnes. Crafting exclusively prestige cuvées every year making Krug one of the best Champagne house in the industry.Krug Grande Cuvée is born from the dream of one man, Joseph Krug, to offer the very best Champagne every year, regardless of annual variations in climate. Since 1843, the House of Krug has honoured this vision with each new edition of Krug Grande Cuvée: the fullest expression of Champagne. The newest release of Krug Grande Cuvee, 169th Edition, is from the base year of 2013 but includes a fully forty percent of reserve wines dating back to 2000 with a total of 146 different components in the final blend! The floral bouquet is very fine and elegant but also quite delicate, suffused with touches of slightly candied citrus, but the telltale autolytic note of hazelnuts is less pronounced than usual. There is, however, some almond nuttiness on the palate, as well as racy rectitude and vivacity that give thrust to a long, surprisingly breezy finish.
