100% Pinot Noir. Domaine Gérard Mugneret comprises six hectares of some of the most distinguished vineyards in the Cote de Nuits which are all farmed biodynamically. The family home and cellars lie just downhill from the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. Winemaker Pascal Mugneret descends from one of Burgundy’s iconic families: Pascal’s grandfather, René, was the uncle of Dr. Georges Mugneret, whose widow and daughters run Mugneret-Gibourg. Pascal grew up in the cellar run by his father, Gerard, but studied physics and pursued a career as an engineer before agreeing to take the reins in 2005. In recent years, Pascal has become one of the hot names to drop in Burgundy circles, for no other reason that he fashions superb expressions of Pinot Noir. Quatrain is a harmonious blend of four vineyards from the village. Mugneret’s wines remain reasonably priced compared to fellow Vosne winemakers and given their quality, this will not last much longer. Hoard them now!
