100% Chardonnay. In 1851, young Charles Heidsieck founded his own Champagne house in Reims. He understood that the United States was an important emerging market, so he traversed America repeatedly north to south promoting his new brand. The stylish entrepreneur became known lovingly as “Champagne Charlie.” Charles Heidsieck is distinguished by the high proportion of reserve wines and their vineyard parcels coming from grand and premier cru villages. The house decided to single out the greatest chardonnays in a cuvée called Blanc des Millénaires, making this their tête de cuvée. Only four vintages were created under this name, 1983, 1985, 1990 and 1995. The extreme exigence of the House when it comes to the quality of the grapes and their cellaring potential shows to which extent the chardonnays from this particular harvest were outstanding! Charles Heidsieck is the smallest of the Grandes Marques champagne Houses and that gives them an advantage in being more flexible to craft truly captivating wines. Champagnes that express place and soul.
